I'm setting up a new server running Windows 2008 standard 64-bit. I downloaded the 64-bit SQL server 2005 64 bit (self-extracting zip SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Standard_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_1_x64_MLF_X11-57664.exe) and installed it. I installed the whole package, then installed SP2. While poking around I happened to right-click the Sql Server in the SQL Configuration Manager and choose properties. The line "Running on 64-bit OS" says "No", and when I click the mouse there, the tool-tip says "Indicates whether this 32-bit service is running on a 64-bit operating system."
The properties window of My Computer ("Computer" actually) indicates it's running a 64-bit version of Windows.
Why does SQL Server think it's a 32-bit version, and why doesn't it know it's running on Win 2K8 64-bit?
Thanks for your help.
