Ladies and Gentlemen of the list. I've got a very strange one going on here.

I've got a Magix 3.0 and a Merlin Messaging 2.5 and I'm trying to turn on Outcalling for my mailbox. I've got all the ports programmed for ROTARY, they're all programmed for ARS Restriction Level of 5 (certainly high enough to make the call, as my regular stations are also level 5), and I've got the ports programmed as UNRESTRICTED. I can't get it to dial 9+pager number. I've also added the dialpool code (8900 for the main pool) so it would dial 8900+pager number). Neither way worked.

Any thoughts on this confusing situation?

Followup. It appears theres a 2 or 3 minute delay between when a message is left and when it attempts to dial out. However, it doesn't actually dial anything. I've got it set to do 9+phonenumber. What happens is the line light goes green and if I tap in on that line with a butt set, the phone system never breaks dialtone. No DTMF is sent, but since the line was selected, that means some of the number must have been dialed for ARS to route the call to that pool. Wierd, huh? It stays in use for about 15 or 20 seconds, then hangs up.

Any thoughts?

Pagers are always a nuissance. First start with a cell phone number and see if it is dialing that, then play with the pauses. It looks like everything is set up properly. Is the mailbox itself set to have outcalling turned on? Probably so. May check LS disconnect as well, and if the WMS is really busy, may try to have the hunt group in a linear sequence. If circular, the last port(s) may be busy with another voice mail before they are actually able to dial out.

This is in my house and isn't busy at all. Remember, I've gotten on the actual CO line with my BUTT Set and have heard the line be picked up, but no DTMF is sent.

as Pep said, make sure your LS Reliable disconnect is set to yes.

There's also something else that should be noted. I'm in PBX mode on the switch. So, if the line is being seized by the mail system, in theory that means it dialed some numbers to tell the phone system to select that line, even if it was just the first 3 digits of a number.

Kris

if you are in pbx mode ,did you take your lines out of the 70 pool to make them appear on your phones as pvt lines,

They don't appear at all. They system's outcalling is programmed to dial 9+number. Its auto line selection pickes an SA button.
