hi there!

I have a problem sharing my two pc folders and files when zonealarm is working.

It works great without it.

I would like to know how can I configure my two computers to share files.
I assume you will advise me to add the zone to the trusted zone ,but then the firewall will have a weak and compromising definitions for the Internet connection too...

I want to config it by separating it to two sections:

1. one for the internet connection with a max zonealarm protection
2. network with share option in the trusted zone.

* I don't know so much about dhcp or dns, so it would be kind if I could get any technical instructions of doing it.

THANKS ALOT!!!

Nadavgut,

With the Linksys your LAN should 192.168.1.X and your 2 computers should be 192.168.1.199 and 192.168.1.198 if you are having the Linksys do DHCP. Your WAN IP should only be on the WAN port of the Linksys that it gets from your ISP.

You can have Zone Alarm trust the 192.168.100.X network and if you have the Linksys configured correctly it should not be letting any 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x. and 192.168.x.x traffic in from the Internet so that would not compromise any security on the network.

You should not need to worry about DNS - the Linksys should be getting that from your ISP and your computers should be looking to 192.168.1.1 (the router) for DNS as well as the gateway to the Internet.

I hope this helps!
