Hi everyone,

I have a Windows 2000 server and have installed the ODBC driver that comes with Sybase open Client 12.

I can create a data source (to a remote Sybase database) but when I try and use this data source in MS SQL Server 2000 DTS I get the following error message (which isn't very helpful)

"HResult of 0x80004005 (-2147467259) returned
Unexpected Error Occurred. An error result was returned without an error message"

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Neill

DataSourceName: Inventory
Description: inventory
ServerName: LN1_P01
Database: inventory

The following steps solved the problem...don't know why

1. Tried to connect to datasource using Excel to confirm ODBC configuration was correct.
2. This required MS Query which wasn't installed
3. Following MS Query installation, the ODBC connection through DTS package worked

I guess a 'missing' dll or some other configuration was missing before MS Query install - however this only affected Sybase ODBC connections. Strange.
