I'm using CRXI to write a report and BOXI Enterprise to publish it.
The report has 2 datasources, and SQL server and an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is saved on a network drive and isn't password protected.
When I run the report from crystal it works perfectly but when I put it on enterprise and try to run it I keep getting an error message:
The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.
The logon details for the SQL server are correct so I know the problem lies with the spreadsheet.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

When BusinessObjects is installed, it defaults to using the Local Services account on the server where it's running to run all of its processes (servers). This account does not have network access, so it cannot "see" the Excel file on the network. You have two options:

1. Best practice is to get a network user ID to use and then in the CCM set up all of the BO XI servers to run using that ID instead of the Local Services ID. This account should have access to any network folders it will read from or write to as well as be set up as an administrator on the server where BO XI is installed. Also, because it's a service account that's generally not actually used to physically log in to the server, it should be set up with a password that does not expire.

2. In the CMC, set up the defaults on the report using "Schedule For" and use a network ID and password that has access to the folder where the Excel spreadsheet is located. Note that if the password for this account is changed, any recurring schedule will have to be manually rescheduled after the password is changed in the CMC or else the report will fail. That's why this method is not the best route to use.
