I recently installed Visual Studio 6 Enterprise Edition on my computer, running Windows 98, and now I'm having two problems upon startup: The first thing is, a window with a yellow exclamation point pops up titled "Problem Ocurred" (including the misspelling of "occurred"), and in the window it says: Exception 'Access violation ocurred while calling to EspDB at address 0x7B414550. My other problem is, a second window titled "Sockconv" appears, and says: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor". Below that it says: "SOCKCONV caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0096:7b414550.

So, anyone know what went wrong? I have since uninstalled Visual Studio, and the same thing keeps happening.

This may be of no relevance, but sockconv.c and espDB can both be found in Linux distributions.

Hope this helps
