I have a very weird problem when I try to watch a DVD which
was sent to me from Europe.( it is a movie )

The specs state : Country code 2 , PAL Dolby Digital
2.0 Dolby Digital 5.1

When I use the VLC Media player I obtain excellent sound
but extremely bad pictures.( Faces of persons are green,
large spots in orange, green, blue cover sometimes most of the
screen )

When I use the PowerDVD Media player it is the opposite.
The picture is excellent but now the sound is very bad,so
bad that one cannot determine what is spoken.

I tried al kind of settings in the Configuartion option
buy without success.

It cannot be my video card or sound card, otherwise I should
have the problem all the times ! I also tried the
country code 2 but it made no difference.

Anybody could suggest where I should continue to trouble shoot or what other DVD player I should try.

Thanks

If the DVD is PAL, and your DVD-+drive is NTSC, it won't be able to play it properly, they are 2 different things. Make sure your DVD drive is PAL compatible.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

I don't think that computer DVD-drives make any difference between PAL or NTSC. All they do is give digital data to the computer, which formats it for display. The program makes the difference in properly displaying the contents.

Your task is to find the proper codec and application to play PAL. Are there forums about the VLC player? Between versions of VLC some types of files play worse, some better. The cost of freeware.
