I have this Flash cartoon with a couple long sound clips playing across scenes. Everything syncs up perfectly when I play the file from my hard drive...but when I play it from online the animation trails the sound by up to five seconds through the whole thing. I have a preloader that doesn't start the movie until it's entirely loaded, if that matters. I tried switching the clips from "event" to "stream". The old problem went away; now the first sound doesn't play at all, and the second, though perfectly synched, cuts off after about 10 seconds. If anybody here has any insight I'd really appreciate it.

i have got a similar problem. I solved it by reducing the filesize of the audiofiles. In my case, i additionally created 3 different sound-objects that have different attributes, but when adjusting one, all the others think that i meant them.

However, nothing else i can help with so far...

Have you set as many frames on the timeline as needed to hear the whole sounds?

to clarify the wisdom of oldnewbie, make sure the layer that contains your sound doesnt have any keyframes after the sound starts that cuts off the sound before the little sound-wave graphic runs out. if you cant see the end of the sound wave in the timeline your streaming sound will not finish playing. with event sounds this is not the case, the sound only needs to be started and it will play in is entirety. also you dont need to load the whole movie prior to starting. thats unrelated to your sync problem.

stream sounds will always sync perfectly, the movie will drop frames if necessary to keep up with the sound. with event sounds you know every frame in your timeline will play, but you can only be sure about when the sound starts... whats happening by the time the sound ends will depend upon the particular machines' speed at displaying the animation.
