I've installed Samba 3.0.14 on an Openserver 5.0.6 machine. When I start it with /etc/rc2.d/S99smbd start, it gives me the following error.

dynamic linker : /usr/sbin/smbd : could not open /usr/lib/libldap-2.2.so.7
/etc/rc2.d/S99smbd: 20177 Killed

There is no libldap-2.2.so.7 file in /usr/lib.

I saw a similar thread that just mentioned authentication should be shared but that didn't help.

Can someone tell me how to get this file or how to start Samba without it?

Where did you get this copy of Samaba? Did it mention any required dependencies, and are you sure you have all of them installed?

Annihilannic.

I found my solution. I had to install a gwxlibs package which put the file that was missing onto the system. I had a hard time finding this package but finally did at this link.

I searched SCO for gwxlibs 2.1.0Ba in case anyone else needs this.

I've also had to install oss646c.

I found Samba at ftp://ftp2.sco.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/
