I recently upgraded my Win XP Pro and have had very little
trouble with any apps as a result (e.g., Elements and Album 2.0 run fine).
However, when I went to start Photoshop 7, I got the message: "This
application has failed to start because AXEParser.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Then when tried to reinstall have message that serial number is "inccorect". How coul be inccorect when I have full purchased version?

My question is: Do I need to reinstall at all? Any idea what function may be
affected by the absence of this file? I really hate to go through the
re-install hassle, but I would also hate to edit an image and then find I
couldn't use certain filters, effects, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Bootso

Was it a service pack upgrade, or did you upgrade from an earlier OS(EG: Win98)?

If it was an earlier version of windows, I would really advise a clean install.

The elder geek has a good walk through of it.

If not, you could try copying AXEParser.dll from an another Adobe app to your Photoshop directory, or try downloading it from here...(under 'A').

Got to advise the clean install howvever.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

Thanks BAREHUG. I followed your instruction and it OK now. By the way I did not upgrade from previous version (ie Win98) I just run Windows Update on my existing XP Pro.
