Hi,
I though I would post this as someone else may have te same problem at some time.
I have a 3Com 11g access point (3CRWE454G72) located upstairs 1 flight which worked fine with a laptop PC located downstairs. The laptop disk died and was replaced, unable to find the original drivers for the 3Com PC card I downloaded the latest from 3Com - and whilst I was there I thought it a good idea to download the latest firmware for the AP (1.03.07A). I should have known better...
One the PC was rebuilt I found that it would only connect to the AP when it was very close even though the signal strength was very good/excellent. Even when connected it would drop the connection frequently.
Reversing the firmware version back to 1.0.2.11 has however returned everything to working without the connection being dropped. It has taken me about 2 weeks to resolve this, as my first thoughts were that it was due to installing XPSP2 before the Wireless PC card where previously XPSP2 was installed afterwards.
