I have an Access database secured using a workgroup (.mdw) file. I shared the folder that the database is in over our internal network. The problem is that no one can get into the database (msgbox comes up and says that you don't have permission, etc). Everything works find when I click on the shortcut made on my desktop after secring the db. What's going on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Matt, there are a couple of things which need to be in place:

1. The mdw file used is in a shared network drive & all users have read/write access to it.
2. Each user has to to have their Access pointing to this central .mdw file which is done by including it on the command line - look up help on command line arguments but it should read like:

msaccess.exe dbname.mdb /wrkgrp nwdrive:\path\file.mdw

If they are not being prompted at all to enter a userid/password, then check #2.
