I am investigating a problem with Outlook and attachments and would appreciate any help or recommendations. I am running Win98SE, Office 2K on a Dell Latitude laptop. Also, I am accessing an email server (linux) using a POP3 account using a cable modem connection.
I was having difficulties the other day with Outlook crashing and I thought the *.pst was corrupted so I ran the Inbox Repair Utility...that seems to help. However, prior to the problem, I would compose a message and include an attachment which showed up at the bottom of the window below a separator bar in the message window. Now, when I compose a message with an attachment, the attachment shows up in the text of the message. And, what's most troubling is the recipients of the message tell me the attachment shows up as a *.dat file. (I mosting send Word and Excel attachments and the *.dat is happening to Word docs.)
Any ideas what is causing this?
Thanks.
