I would like to route messages that come from the outside to a gateway address.
For example, when someone sends a message to alarms@mycompany.com, the message should be routed to [OCTELAN:1234] so the Exchange gateway that handles that address type can process the message.
I have tried routing the alarms@mycompany.com through an Exchange mailbox to a Contact. I have also tried using a public folder and creating an admin rule to forward messages to the Contact with the [OCTELAN:1234] address.
This never works for messages that come from the outside. However, I can send from my own mailbox to alarms@mycompany.com, and the routing works every time.
Based on the NDR's I get from the third-party gateway, it looks like Exchange is modifying the messages somehow.
Any ideas here? Thanks very much.
