problem related to conditional suppression of fields

Hi
I know that it is a very basic question.
I am picking fields from two different tables.The tables are related by a key.I want to suppress those fields which are duplicated. for this i have used "suppress if duplicated" button.
But it suppresses it wherever it repeats.
What i want is something different.
I want it to suppress in just one related records but not in all records.
e.g. table1.record1 table2.record1
table1.record1 table2.record2
table1.record1 table2.record3

So it shd get suppressed where the record of the second table are related to the first
but when it is not related then it shd not suppress it.
the problem is that it is suppressing everywhere
so how I can apply conditional suppression???

try using grouping on which records u don't want to repeat ....
