I'm trying to set up my cpu for home recording (guitar, mainly), but am having trouble w/the 'order'of the external devices-- I am using 2 external devices--a Digitech RPX-400 guitar processor and an M-Audio Audiophile soundcard.
I'm not sure how to set this up properly--the manuals from both products do not show how to do this...do I run my guitar into the RPX-400 to the Audiophile to the cpu? I tried this but heard nothing from the speakers...not sure what to do...any ideas?? THANX!!!

I know nothing about guitars or the equipment you have, but reading the blurb it looks like the Digitech RPX-400 has a connection for a USB port on your computer, rather than using the soundcard. So looks like the Digitech RPX-400 plugs straight into one of the the PC's USB ports, and NOT in via the soundcard. I gather that this connection would enable you to record your guitar and any other sounds produced within the Digitech RPX-400. If the M-Audio soundcard is already installed within the PC, then you could probably use this to check and playback soundtracks already recorded onto your hard disk through conventional computer speakers.

The Digitech RPX-400 should also connect direct to a guitar PA system, independently of the computer.

Hope that helps....

Open the MIXER console. Something is probably MUTED. You can go to the advanced settings also.

do you have on board sound? If so you need to disable it in the bios
