We are currently running sophos antivirus. We use the enterprise manager to push install the software to desktop pc's. On about 10 pc's after installing the software the software in now longer managable through enterprise manger, I am still able to browse the c$ share on these pc. All pc's affected are xp or win w2k. I have contacted sophos support but they really havent' been any help with this problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

The only problems I've run into have been trying to install Sophos on a PC that already has anti-viurs software on it. Some of our computers at the office had McAvee on them and it got ugly when the two mixed. Win XP REALLY didn't like it!

Hope This Helps!

Hi

The only problem I have seen is where the version of Sophos is more than three version out of date, if that is the case then it is not possible to update form the Management console. It requires you to manualy update the signature then it can be managed as normal.

I had a similar problem a while back. Turned out that the files that hold the password were corrupted. In each case, we have to delete Sophos, remove the Sophos user, reboot, put in the Sophos user, and reinstall Sophos.

The trick on a couple of W2K machines was Sophos would not properly uninstall. We has to uninstall manually. Not trivial.

Another problem occured when we forgot to tell Windows that the Sophos user's password does not expire and cannot change its password. Once the password expired, Sophos could not update until we fixed the settings and password.
