Hi there,
newbie to Analysis Services.

My warehouse is on Oracle, and I've created MyOracleDB as the data source of my Analysis Server. I can connect to the data source, browse the tables, create cubes and dimensions.

However, when I try and process a dimension , I receive the ORA-12154 error: TNS cannot resolve service name.

Can someone suggest why this might be, when I can see the Oracle database when I'm creating the objects?

Thanks
Graeme

*edit* I mean process a Cube. The database is in my TNSNAMES.ora (I can connect when I'm defining the objects, but not when I'm processing them).

In its wisdom, Analysis Services uses the Oracle "HOME" string in the registry to find the TNSNAMES.ora.

When you're building the cube and the dimensions, it finds TNSNAMES.ora ok using HOME1, but then when you want to run the cube, it decides to use HOME0 as the Oracle Home directory - and I didn't have TNSNAMES.ora.

Why can't Microsoft write the software to use a standard Oracle Home location? Just wasted my time faffing around for this.
