Here is my problem, I have a subreport that gives me five separate counts on a number of workorders and sets them as shared variables. It is in invoked in my group footer #1. In my group footer #2 I print the five formulas that have retrieved the variables along with the group name which in this case is month. This works fine as long as the section with the subreport in it is not hidden or supressed. As soon as I do that the variables are no longer retrieved from the subreport. So I am left with either unwanted white space or empty fields. Neither situation is acceptable. I tried switching to global variables and got no data whether it was suppressed or not. any other ideas how to get around this problem?

Thank you in advance,

You need shared variables to cross from the subreport.

If you suppress the subreport it won't run and provide data.

What you have to do is make the subreport only provide one printing section (only the report footer) and make all of fields in this section invisible by suppressing them. Then make the section on the main report as small as possible.

It will then fire, but not print anything or take up &quot;much&quot; space. If you need it to take up no space you can set the invisible subreport to &quot;Underlay&quot; the following section. [sig]<p>Ken Hamady- href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady</a><br>[/sig]

Thank you very much. The piece I was missing to the puzz was underlaying that section.
