Problem opening Word

I am trying to open Microsoft Word and I will not load. It looks like it might be loading in the background but if I click on the menu bar at the bottom, it will not bring it to the foreground. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but the same thing happens. It opens in the menu bar but not on the cannot bring it to the desktop.

Any ideas as to what causes this. It was working fine.

What happens when you right click on Word in the task (menu) bar? Do you get the option to "restore" or to "maximize"?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, restore and maximize appear but when I click it nothing really happens. It looks like the window opens but immediately moves it to the background. Happens so fast that you can barely see it.
