In the Crystal SQL Designer (V8.5), the 'Save data with query' option is automatically set to on whenever you retrieve any data. With this option on, the report always uses this set of data without refreshing when press the 'refresh' button in Crystal Report.

This is confusing. Is there any way I can config to let the report get the real refreshed data even the option is on?

Any advice is appreciated.

Under file, options, reporting tab, make sure that "Save data with report" is turned off. This turns this off globally. The same checkbox exists under file, report options, for specific reports.

Now when you open a file, you will not see the old data. However, you will not see the new data either, there is no way to automatically do this, you must refresh the report manually by using the lightining bolt icon.
