Problem migration to AIx 5.2 1

Hello.

I'm try to migrate an aix machine from aix 5.1 to aix 5.2.
But when i put the first cd, it goes to a diagnostic menu, when i supose it must be to

I am trying to make a migration of aix 5,1 for aix 5,2. But when I place the first cd, it goes for a menu of diagnostics, when I find that the new installation menu or migration would have to go for.

Am i correct?
What i need to do to make the migration?

Are you sure you aren't using a diagnostics disk instead of the 5.2 media?

I've never done this upgrade, but can't you do it with smit update_all ? Maybe I'm way off.

What i w'ant is to do a migration of the aix 5.1 to aix 5.2
And that is to do a upgrade.

I thinks this is diferrent.

I have not seen this problem with AIX 5.2 but I have seen it with 5.1 The problem is that at least 2 versions of the AIX 5.1 CD exist - the way to tell them appart is by the part code or by the release date. If you use the early version then you get the diagnostic menu.

Another possibility could be the type of hardware you are trying to install AIX 5.2 onto as not all servers wil support 5.2. A guide is if the server is black then you can install 5.2, if it's white then you can only install 5.1 - The exception to this rule is the F50 (7025-F50) which is white but will accept AIX 5.2
