Hi

I've been asked to help troubleshoot a confusing problem. Our server has IIS 5, sharepoint, and MS project all installed, along with SQL server,

when I try and login to MS project server from the server itself using the server's DNS name or IP address, I cannot login using any of the usernames and passwords (I AM prompted with the MS project server username and login) that have been created. HOWEVER when I use the "localhost" in the address bar instead of the IP address I can sucessfully login.

Note that when I just type only the server name or the IP address and nothing else I can get access to sharepoint.

This problem might not be related to MS Project at all, but I'd appreciate any help if possible. Thanks

Saba

Add the IP address or server name to the list of trusted sites in the Browser. Ie5.5 and up assumes the site is untrusted if an IP address is quoted.

This may not be the solution - but worth a try.

hey billybudd,
this problem happens when I try to access the server from other workstations as well. I'd put in the dns name and or the ip address of the project server and I'd get access to the login/password page, but I couldn't login using usernames and passwords that I KNOW work. it's frustrating.
