Hi,
When some users try to access our Exchange 2k OWA they only get two fields in the login prompt - for Username and Password. These people cannot log in to OWA even if they try a username of domain/username.

Where other users have three fields in the login prompt - for Username, Password and Domain, they can log in fine.

Any clues how you get it to ask for the domain? (e.g. is it an IE thing?)

thanks,
Dave.

Hi,

what happens if the user try to login with
user@domain (smtp) and the passwd ?

Are the browsers all the same or different like IE, Netscape, Opera ...

Thanks for your reply - sadly this does not work. All the browsers concerned are Internet Explorer and we are getting the same problem on some instances of version 5.0 and version 6. e.g. I am on version 6 and it's fine but a colleague who is also on version is having the problem.

Very strange. I was wondering if there could be a Security setting within IE that forces the authentication to prompt for the domain to be specified?

Thanks

Hi,

yes there is a securety setting on the IE.
Normaly you call the OWA with the netbios-name like if there is a "." in the url the IE will not authenticate with NTLM setting but you can enable it on:
-> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet -> "Sites" / "Custom Level"

On "Sites" you can define a site like to handle like and on "Cusom Level" the Auth. methode.
Check here also the "User Authentication" settings.

Normaly you have a two line login if you set the "default domain" to "\" in IIS and "Ex System Manger" in the "Securety settings"
