I'm experiencing a problem with a Report I've created. The report list several records based off a query. These records are supposed to be listed in chronological order based on a completion date; however, the first 1/4 of the records are disordered. The remaining records appear as they should.

I've tried altering the query to sort the records in various fashions. The data continues to be listed exactly the same. So, sorting within the query doesn't seem to have an affect.

I considered that possibly the data on the first 1/4 records may not be properly input. This doesn't appear to be the issue.

I tried recreating the report from scratch. I received the same results.

Finally, I created a form and copied all of the controls from the report. When I ran the form, it worked beautifully. All of the records were listed correctly.

What can be done to get these records to be listed properly using a report?

normally when using a report the sorting is don by the report

look for a menu item that is named sorting and grouping and do the sorting there "What a wonderfull world" - Louis armstrong

chrissie1,

Thank-you very much. This worked great!

I don't exactly understand why you have to sort in this manner on a report. I would have thought that this would be identified via the query or by using vba.

Thanks again.

It is probably because alot of the times 1 or more reports are being run off the same query but you don't want the data sorted the same way one each. You can sort the report through VBA code though if you need it to be dynamic.
