I have 2 hd a seagate (2ogb-master) and a samsung(4.3gb-slave) i was using w98 and i decided to change to w2k, and i cant make the samsung disk work, windows start ok i can see the disk but when i try to do something windows says it was desconected (as if it was an usb drive) and when i reset the pc the bios doesnt recognise it, i have to shut it down and power it on again, ive tried with the samsung manager program and nothig, ive formatted from w2k and nothing.

PD: if i boot with a w98 the disk works.

Are you dual booting now? If so, how's that set up?
Definitely no problems under 98?
Have you checked the cabling is sound & properly connected?
Have samsumg got a diagnostic utility you could run against the drive to make sure its ok?

im not dual booting, i only have w2k now
i used w98 for 6 years with that disk and never had a problem.
all is connected perfectly, i also try tu put it alone but nothing(i was shaing the same ide with the other disk before).
I run it and the first time told me there was an error repartition the disk and did the test again and it was all ok.

The only problem with the disk is that it has a bad cluster near the end, but it never bothers because scandisk repaired it.
