hi,

i have some problem with my mother board build-in printer port. i bought a PCI printer port. i disabled the lpt1 in the cmos but i can't print using the new port.. there's noo conflit in windows either. the printing software says printer not found. please help.

First, remove the PCI printer S/W from Windows, then phisically remove the
board. Re-enable the built-in printer port in CMOS. Set it port 378, IRQ 7,
ECP. Reboot. Let Windows set up the port. Check Control Panel that it is
configured the way you just set it. Do not proceed until this first port is
configured properly. Next, check your CMOS to see that PNP O/S is
enabled. If not, set it, then reboot, making sure windows sets-up the
Control Panel properly. Finally, insert the PCI printer board & boot. You
should install the S/W drivers that came with it. Reboot again and check
Control Panel. You should now have a properly configured 2nd printer
port (usually called Cyber Port).

Hi,

Thank you for your advise. i'll try the method that you have suggested. But do i have to check the remap in the PCI card's configuration?. i think it allows to remap to legacy port's address.

Thank you.
