I am trying to install the 32-bit ODBC driver for Oracle Rdb onto NT WS 4.0/SP5. Everytime I do, intall crashes at the end while trying to make required registry entries. Error is access violation. I have installed this on other PCs (also NT Ws 4.0/Sp5) using same install set without problem. Any ideas...?
Also, I have thought of cleaning out existing ODBC drivers and reinstalling them, but you can no longer delete drivers using the control panel, so how do you uninstall them (most setups don't have an uninstall option, either)?

Do you have admin rights on this PC? Are you logged onto the PC as local administrator, or domain administrator or a user with equivalent rights? Each key in the registry has security as well just like the folders, so there could be some problem with rights. If you want to check rights, remember to use REGEDT32, not REGEDIT. Compare the security of HCLM/Software/ODBC on this PC with one that you were able to update.
Good luck
Ianco

ensure u have your original media (used for the install) to uninstall - this does'nt work - they will "be" unistalled with regedt - a bit nasty but it works.
