problem installing Illustrator 10

I have Windows XP Pro and I am having problems installing Illustrator 10. I get a Component transfer error stating the following - Component: Windows Sys Files, File Group: msvcrt, File: <svMSVCRT>\, Error: the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax in incorrect.
Can someone help. Illustrator 9 installs without a problem and I have installed Illustrator 10 previously but had to uninstall & now I am getting this problem.

Did you sort out your error installing Illustrator 10 on XP - I have the same problem - can you help me?

Is this the upgrade to 10?

In any case:

. Uninstall any previous Illustrator installations
. Get and copy to c:\windows\system :

. Turn off any anti-virus software. Check in Task Manager to make sure nothing is running as a service for the anti-virus software.
