I am getting the following error when trying to install a second server into an exchange 5.5 site.
"Internal error has occured during directory replication. Stop, then start the directory service. The try directory replication again. ID No. C103060d." In the Event Log I get "Exception E0010002 has occured with parameters 9 & 0 internal ID 30C0886. Event ID 1171.

I could not find anything in Knowlegdge Base about this error.

The directory service is running on the machine I am trying to replicate with.

Check and make sure you have the same service pack level on both servers and that the service account/password are correct, (though an incorrect password will generate an error in the security log as well).

I am using SP 5 for NT Server 4.0 on both servers. The first exchange server is using SP4 and the second server will not install exchange due to the error above, so no service pack has been applied.

The service account password is the same

Yes...i was doing this on a offline/test network, which is an exact replica of our online site. My offline server was named mailexch. It turns out that there was an MX record (duplicated from the online site)named mailexch which is the alias to our Exchange server online. Since the record was pointing to a different IP address I don't think it was able to replicate. I was able to solve the problem by changing the offline/test exchange server name.
