Hi Folks

I am having probs increasing the size of the filesystem that holds oracle datafiles. There is sufficient logical partitions to increase fs but for some reason it is giving me probs to increase its size. Any reason?

I am anxious as want to move some of the oracle datafiles from a faulty disk to another disk before it starts to pack up (got lots of errpt reporting its perm h/w state probs).

Thanking you all in advance.

Regards

K

Command: failed stdout: yes stderr: no

Before command completion, additional instructions may appear below.

0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request.
There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes
to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests. The command
should be retried with different allocation characteristics.

you need to increase the number of PP's available to the Filesystem.

use

lslv lvname to find your pp size

then size in Mb / pp size, will give you the amount for no_of_pp's below

extendlv lvname no_of_pp's

if you're just trying to migrate an existing filesystem/LV off a failing disk, look at the "migratepv" command.

There are a variety of conditions that can cause the error you stated originally, please post the output of "lslv ${LVNAME}" for the lv/filesystem you are trying to extend, as well as "lsvg -p ${VGNAME}" for the volume group that LV is in.
