We are facing the following problem in Unixware 7.1.1 server:-

When we give the command:

#fsadm -F vxfs -b 2000000 -r /dev/rdsk/c0b0t1d0s2 /home4

we get the following messages:-
vxfs fsadm: /dev/rdsk/c0b0t1d0s2 is currently 2192964 sectors- size will be reduced.
vxfs fsadm: allocations found in shrink range, moving data.
vxfs fsadm:could not get filesystem reorg lock.
Operation not applicable.

Has anybody gone through this error/situation and can offer help ?

Thanks In Advance

Do you *really* want to reduce the size of the filesystem?

How full is the filesystem; it may be having trouble finding space to move the data.

Annihilannic.

This is one example that I have quoted. With any operation (whether defragmentation, size extension/reduction etc.) that we try to perform using fsadm the error message is:

could not get reorg lock !

Can any one help ?

Thanks !
