Hi all,
i have a simple catalog and some simple reports in imp6.0.
i uninstalled it and installed impromptu series7 version2.
when i try to open the catalog as read-only it opens but if i try to upgrade it, open reports as read-only or upgrade the reports, the following error arise:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error!
Program: c:\program files\cognos\cer3\bin\ImpAdmin.exe
abnormal program termination"

followed by the next statement:

"Impromptu - [report-name]: ImpAdmin.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x6c371351" referenced memory at "0x00000004".
The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program"

In case of trying to upgrade the cayalog, another dialogue box appears (after the first two):

"Program error
ImpAdmin.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
You will need to restart the program
An error log is being created"

The platform is windows 2000 professional Service pack 2.
The database is SQL Server.

So, any suggestions.........

also can u tell me where the error log is created

Thanks in advance

From what I have read, you first have to upgrade to 7.0 and then upgrade to 7.2

Hi dideb

As the question was asked months ago I assume it is solved?

I am in the process of upgrading from v6 to v7.1, the reports seem to upgrade ok in testing.
But I am interested if you did need to go via v7.
Plus did you use the upgrade utility?

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I need to have the following functionality in the Impromptu report.Pleas let me if u guys have any work arounds on this

for example, take the following 3 columns

1.Product Type,
2.Order Date,
3.Sum(Sales Amount) in the Great Out doors catalog

I have to pass 4 prompt values for the Order Date

Date Range 1
--------------
St_Dt1,
End_Dt1,

Date Range 2
--------------
St_Dt2,
End_Dt2.

Now the report should display seperate SalesAmount for the DataRange1 and DateRange2.

The out put of the report should look like..

Product_Type SalesAmount1 Sales Amount2
(For Date Range1) (Date Range 2)
------------- ------------- -----------------

Pr Typ1 2000 10000
pr Typ2 1000 10000

............
.........

Yo Coglearner, first off, you are clueless. This is an old thread on a completely different topic; your post has no business here. Secondly, you can use standard vertical-to-horizontal techniques to achieve this, which if you knew anything about reporting you would already know.
