OK - thanks to Big Louie and others for this forum. I never would have gotten this far without all of you.

I am importing a daily bunch of AP invoices and finally got the batch number to automatically increment and AP_01 / AP_02 to go in automagically.

So far I am looking pretty good.

But I have to say that published documentation is very skimpy and "take the class" doesn't sit right with me. We should be able to use the product with the documentation provided, in my opinion. Help files and tutorials and documentation should make classes unnecessary in today's electronic environment.

Anyway, my question:

Does anyone know what the perform choices APWVIP;AP_INVOICE versions 1 and 2 actually do? Is this documented anywhere? And the other performs listed in VI?

I am guessing the first one does the batch incrementing and the second does the tax files. But it sure would be nice to have not just a list of what Performs are an option, but also a description of their purpose. "Take the Class" doesn't seem like an appropriate answer.

My simple AP import now works successfully and my next move will be a more complicated import. Hopefully if I need more help someone out there will know the answer and take the time.

Thanks again.

This is explained in class.

OK so Sage deliberately withholds the information necessary to actually use Visual Integrator.

I guess they figure their resellers can make a lot of money teaching classes and also actually setting up VI for the end users. So keeping the end users from using it is profitable.

When someone takes the class do they sign an agreement of confidentiality to not disclose this information?

Just wondering.

I resent this approach. Flying or driving somewhere, sitting in a class looking out the window daydreaming, all for 15 minutes of information that could be provided on the website.

Thanks BIg Louie. I know this isn't your fault. I will figure it out and who knows maybe even find this information hiding somewhere in some post or email.

Just because I drive a car every day does not mean I know how to work on it. If I wanted to work on it I would go to class. Same with VI. There is a lot to learn about VI and you learn it by going to class. Just about everything I post on here I learned by going to class.

Perform logic is basically program code that tells MAS and VI what to do at job start, during the job and on job success or failure.
