Hello, I have just gotten a new gig with a company. My boss setup the whole network over a 5 year period. The network is all screwed up. its the worst network I have ever seen in my life. All the users know eachothers passwords. There is no file sharing. The backup servers are pulling documents to back them up from individual machines. we are in a network of 40 plus users: 1 DC win2k3 1 sql server not part of domain. and 1 terminal services server also not part of domain. How do I tell this guy the network is messed up and disorganized? anyone have any ideas?

Is your boss an IT person, or is your boss a user who did the network because no one would? If you are the new IT person and you are being put into charge of this network, I would start making plans to change things. Pick a priority list and start making plans on how fix one or two things at a time. Explain to your boss why you want to do those things.

If you boss is the top IT person, I would suggest you spend some time listening and learning, after you build some trust and credibillity, start making suggestions.

No matter what, don't charge in and say everything is screwed up and it is a miracle that anything ever worked. Take your time and chip away at the problems a little bit at a time. This way you will get it fixed and end up a here.
