problem figuring a date minus 10 years

I'm obviously doing this wrong..can anyone figure out how to fix my problem? Thank you!

DatePart("yyyy",[date_maturity]-10)

 

[PHV]

either:
Year([date_maturity])-10
or:
DateAdd("yyyy",-10,[date_maturity])
