i get a message "interface board or cd-rom drive is not ready" insure that drive power is on and drive cables correctly attached. But, all of the wires are correctly attached. I don't know what to do.

remove the power and connections from the CD and make sure there is not an entry in BIOS then reboot. see if you get the message. If not try putting the drive on the other cable (setting it for slave if necessary) and try again. Let us know what happens.
