Problem dialing toll free 18XX 1

Hello all - bit of a newb, so be gentle....

Have a V2 R6.1 using a PRI. Local calls work, long distance works, but 1-800/866/877/888 get denied. I am using the basic ARS, and when troubleshooting with the telco, was told they weren't seeing the leading 1, just 800xxx. I tried playing some with the shortcodes in ARS, but no joy.

I even tried a BCM to test outbound to prove it was the telco/pri, but calls went through without error.

In the ARS you need:

Shortcode 18N;
Feature Dial (or Dial 3k1.. whatever the others in the ARS are)
Tel number 18N
Line Gp 0 (or what the rest are set as)

ACSS (SME)
APSS (SME)

It would help also if you launched Monitor and then went to Filters>Trace Options. Click the Clear All button and then on the Call tab select ARS and Targeting. On the ISDN tab click the Layer 3 Send and Receive at the bottom. Make a test call and post the results.

That will be different, it is the ISDN responding saying ringing..

Can you post the entire trace of the successful call?

I'd try deleting the 18N; shortcode, as the 1N; shortcode is working correctly and 18N calls would then match the 1N; shortcode.

When a l8xx call fails, what is teh cause code reported by IPO, (you chopped the trace off a little quick)

Hey Matt. I tried 18N because 1N was not working. I cut the traces off after i hung up - a ld call would ring and a toll free gives a fast busy. Should i let traces run longer?

If you've followed Kholiday's trace instructions, you probably wont see the information.

on Sysmon - select default all, then add layer 3,2,1 ISDN and run the trace again

What i want to see is the decoded cause code supplied back from the network. The rest of the stuff looks right.

Try taking out the 18N shortcode and change your 1N shortcode in the ARS table to:

Code = 1N;

Telephone Number = 1NSXXXXXXXXXX
Replace the x's with your area code and number)

Feature = Dial3K1

Line Group = 0
(Or whatever line group your PRI channels are in)

Some providers (fussy US ones) require you to actively send a certain CLI out on toll free and/or national calls don't know why :)

The ; in the short code tells the system to wait for the Dial Delay Time to expire after the last digit it received before assuming that dialing has been completed. This is necessary for line providers that expect to receive all the routing digits for a call 'en bloc'. The user can also indicate they have completed dialing by pressing #.
You can change it to 1xxxxxxxxxx and that will work as well because it will expect 10 digits, no more and no less and then it will send it out en bloc on the PRI as soon as it gets the 10th digit.
