I'm using ACT! 6 and have had a problem with deleting contacts from group membership. I've tried going through the normal route of clicking on Group > Group Membership > Add/Remove Contact, but regardless of what the permissions are for the person logged on (ie: Manager, Administrator), the Add/Remove Contact option is greyed out. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to resolve this issue?

First, are you sure it's ACT! 6? There is no "Manager" security for ACT! 6... only for ACT! 7 and later.

Are you trying this from the Group View or the Contact view (Groups Tab)?

Was the contact possibly added via a Group Membership rule?

Actually, I am using ACT 7, not ACT 6. Sorry!

I've tried to access the Add/Remove button from both Contact and Group view.

Normally, the way I've added contacts to a group is by going to the Group/Companies tab while I'm in the Contact record that I wish to add. I'm coming into the picture after the fact and am new to ACT!, but from what I can see, there are not Group rules set up.

Got it figured out! Thanks for your input.

Didn't really understand that I needed to go through Groups to access the delete function. I can delete a contact from a group by doing the following:

Click on “GROUPS” on the left menu.

Click on View Groups/Companies (upper right hand corner of screen) and select the group you want to delete the contact from

Click on Add/Remove Contact

Click on Contacts under “Static Members” in dialog box that pops up

Find the contact name you wish to delete in the right hand list. When you find it, double click it, which moves it over to the left hand list and removes it from the group. Click OK, OK.

Click on Contacts on the left menu and do a lookup of the contact you’ve just deleted from the group. Click on the Groups/Companies tab and check to see that the group listing has been removed.
