I am unable to delete a 0kb .exe application from my computer. When I right click and try to delete it, I recieve an error message that says: "cannot delete <this program> It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." I have tried the old restart the computer trick but i still receive the message. How do I delete this icon off of my desktop. Thanks in advance.

Hi!

You can boot up to MS-DOS (by using Bootable CDs or Floppydisks) and then easily delete that file....

Could be a virus/spyware? If you have XP you can restore to a date before you picked up this problem.

What is the file called?

Find that and google for it...

Might give you some idea of whether it is hostile or not

It might be locked and quarantined by active antivirus software on the PC.. can you run a virus check and delete the file that a way?

Might be cool NOT TO TURN OFF THE ANTIVIRUS to delete the file :)
