Problem creating a vsd using a templte

Ive created an access db that creates a visio documents using a visio template, the shapes and titleblocks display properly except for the page layout, do i need to get the page layout of the template and set page layout of the visio document i've just create or is there a way to specify to keep the template setting when ive create a new document based on the said templates.
