Problem convering Word file to pdf from within Word

I am running Acrobat 5.05 from within Word (2002)and part way through the process I get the message:

"Word has insufficient memory. You will not be able to undo this action once it is completed. Do you want to continue y/n."

I know this seems to be a Word issue - but has anyone come across this before and if so, how did you solve it. I am working with a large file with many graphics. At one point the conversion, although slow, took place. Now it just hangs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you split your Word document into 2 or 3 or however many ? Then create a separate PDF from each. Then use Acrobat to combine the PDFs into one.
