Hi,

I've just installed oracle forms 6i on my laptop and run into a few problems.

1) It appears that from the command prompt that sqlplus is pointing to the sqlplus in the new oracle forms home. I have to access sqlplus in the oracle db home to get it running to connect to the db. Is there any way to point it back to the right instance of sqlplus in the oracle db home directory? I've looked in the registry but am lothed to mess with it too much.

2) When I get the DB up and running I connect with out a connect string as it's on my local machine and defaults to the local db anyway. I've tried in the past using a connect string and it always gives a tns error so gave up. Now that oracle forms has to connect it won't connect to this local DB and gives a tns error. I'm sure I need to just point it to the right place but I'm not sure where to point it. I've copied the tnsnames.ora file from my Oracle DB home an put it in the Oracle forms home but still have problems.

I'm using Oracle 8i on the same machine as Oracle forms 6i, laptops an Inspiron 5100. FYI.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

cheers

1. Just change your PATH system variable to list old_oracle_home\bin before new_oracle_home\bin.
2. Set system variable ORACLE_SID or configure SQL*NET properly.
