Hello All,

I am configuring Windows 2003 SBS with Exchange. I have run the ICW wizard and am getting the following errors logged in icwlog.txt:

Error 0x80072030 returned from call to GetBOConnector().
Error 0x80072030 returned from call to GetFirstAdministrativeGroup().
Error 0x80072030 returned from call to CEMailCommit::Commit().

I have researched this issue extensively and have found some Knowledge Base articles and registry fixes but none have worked.

One of the main KB articles says I need to assign a mailbox to the administrator account, but when I try to add a mailbox in Exchange Tasks, the only available option is to Remove Exchange Attributes even though they do not appear to be any.

The server is connected to a router and does have good internet connectivity. The Windows Firewall Service is running, but the firewall is turned off. The DNS for the server is set to it's own local address for the primary server and to an external server for the secondary.

I have not found any errors in the event log that seem to point to a direction.

If you have any steps I can use to troubleshoot or Microsoft documentation, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Sounds like there was an error during the installation of the Exchange bits. Would it be possible to start over?

I think the Admin account already has a mailbox, which is why you don't have the option to create one.

Don't set an external DNS server as a secondary. Configure just your own, and then in DNS Admin, configure Forwarders to point to your ISP's DNS servers.

The Admin account appears to be the same as all the other accounts -- I can remove Exchange attributes but not add them.

How would I start over with the Exchange install? If you mean reinstalling Windows, I can't do that unfortunately as to the costs of downtime. I would rather bring Microsoft in on a support ticket first.

Thanks,

I wasn't aware that Exchange could be removed independently on SBS 2003. If I do this, do I configure it again via ICW or as I would configure it if it were a non-SBS box?

Thanks,

Ok. I tried removing it this way, but I get the following error message:

Multiple components cannot be assigned in the requested action(s) because:

- To install the first server in a domain, or to run setup in "ForestPrep" mode, you must be an Exchange full administrator at the domain level. You must use an account that has been granted the full administrator role at the Exchange Administrator role on the Exchange Organization using the Exchange Administrative Delegation Wizard.

I check under the Exchange Delegation and my user (Domain Administrator) is listed.

I also checked the KB and it appears to be for SBS 4.0. Any ideas?

Thanks,
