i have just completed a 112 page book. i did not use the book set up in the begining, just did the entire thing as a document with single pages, i now need to make this facing pages, i tried going to document setup & changing to facing pages, however only about 10 of the pages changed to facing, in no peticular order. will this not work if it is just a document to start with as apposed to a book ?? any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
June

That should work.

You can always drag the thumbnails in the document layout window so that all pages are facing another. Or if that rearranges pages oddly, you could create a new document facing pages, then thumbnail drag from the original doc onto your new page layout. Might be a lot of work, but could save you if there is a lot of text reflow due to changing pages.

me again, i have already dragged all the pages into the proper places, it was really easy! but still have one problem, the page number on the left (even #"s) is on the inside of the page, instead of the outside edge. do i need to have two different master pages with the page number in the opposite position ??

thanks so much

If you drag thumbnails to a new document, then both documents need to be in thumnail view, then you can drag from one page layout to the other.

not sure what you mean, i did not start a new document, i just dragged the pages in the document layout to be all facing, but i only have one master page with the page number on the right side of page. not sure how to get the page number moved on the facing page ?
thanks

In the document layout pallete, your master page will need to have the icon with the upper corners folded down, not the square page icon. This will allow you to adjust your folios, margins and gutters for left and right sides.

to change the master page from single to facing, go to display under page menu and select a-master a. you might want to make a box that covers your entire layout (with no runaround), then make sure you have the item tool selected and select all elements on the page. group them and make a note of their exact location listed in the measurements pallete. Copy all. In the document layout pallete, drag the page icon with bent corners over the icon next to a-master a so it is highlighted. when you drop the icon it will warn you that your page will be replaced. ok. then in the new masterpage paste your copied layout and adjust.
