I have two laptops in our office (Win 2000 on a mixed mode Win 2000 domain)in our domain which recently connected in a different dhcp range of the same domain of active directory. (They were taken to another office) Since they came back they receive the following error message when trying to browse the network:

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available

This is error no. 6118 according to MS

If I try netdiag /test:browser /debug

I get Redir and Browser test . . . . . . : Failed

What could be the reason for this?

Any Ideas out there?

I did some further digging and found if i do:

browstat status

I get Browsing is not active on domain.

But only on these two laptops any other Computer lists the domaincontroller as the browsemaster.

I also tried to force the election of the browsemaster by stopping and starting the computer browser service on the DC and the Laptop. Neither did help.

Does anybody know whats wrong here?

why don't you try renewing your IP address for your laptops. see if that will solve your problem joining the network.
