Hello All,

I have just set up a new Exchange 2003 Server (under SBS 2003). Users are able to connect with MAPI and Outlook inside the office with no problem. I have turned on the services for IMAP4 and POP3 and the server is picking up on ports 143 and 110.

When I try to connect outside the office via POP3/IMAP and Outlook the username is rejected. I have tried connecting with the username, DOMAIN\username, and e-mail@domain for the user field. All connect attempts are rejected. I have also tried connecting with encryption, but it does not work.

How can I troubleshoot this?

Thanks,

I know this is not the solution you need but this is what we do.
If users are taking their laptops home with them and need to connect remotely you could set up a VPN connection then they can connect to the VPN and then open their outlook as per usual.

Its stable and works well, it also adds a level of security.
