We have run the command pwunconv on our RH Enterprise release 3 server. Now when we want to change a password with passwd it returns the error "passwd: User not known to the underlying authentication module". But we can still login and everyting else seems to work fine.

Maybe i have to set passwd to look in /etc/passwd and not in /etc/shadow. If so, how can i do that?

Thanks
Boycot

re create the shadow file with pwconf

man pwconv

Good Luck
Laurie.
