Hello,

I have got a 2000 SERVER running Veritas 8.6 server.

After the failure of my Onstream DI-30 i replaced it with the Sony AIT SDX-420.
The Sony is recognized in the bios and in the device manager but Veritas does not recognize it.
I downloaded (as given on the Veritas website) the latest Veritas drivers with no effect.

PROBLEM : How can Veritas detect my Sony AIT tapedrive?

Greetz,

Check this:

In Backup Exec, go to Device tab, can you see the drive there?

If so, right click and see if ENABLED is checked. If not, go to properties and check the box for Enable device for Backup Exec.

If it's not showing up in BE, stop the Backup Exec services. Reboot your tape device. When the device is backup restart the BE Services.

Those steps have worked for me.

Hello,

The steps you've mentioned did'nt work for me.
But I've found a solution.
In the wizard hardware I've deleted the Onstream and Sony AIT and the drivers!!!
I've rebooted, installed the Sony and voila the sony is visible in BE.

Thanks for your reply SQLBill.

Greetz,
