I currntly have DID's in the range of 2000 to 7999. i just received a new batch that are in the 9000 range. when i try to add them i keep getting an error code saying that there are lower range numbers programmed. where do i allow the addition of these new DID's?

Are you using 9 for an access code to make a call, as in
9-1-212-555-1234
or 9-911

if so you will need to make soom changes in your dialing plan like may using 8 to make a call. you should get your vendor to make these changes as there are some legal requirements you need to meet with 911.

yes, i do use 9 as an access code, is there an easy way arround this? we do not have a vendor anymore for this system and i have been charged with making all necessary changes. I have been to the Installations course and i dont remember them talking about this.

Your new DID range is 9000, but your dial 9 to make calls is keeps you from using any other numbers that start with 9.

lets start by getting some info on how the switch is programmed.

would it be easier to just ask for DID's under 7999?

OK the first thing you need to do is change the access code for route 99 to another number. look at your other routes to see what the number plan is.

Once you free up the 8 then you have a choice to make, you can change the ESN AC1 from 9 to 8 or get DID numbers in the 8000 range. If you go the change AC1 to 8 then you will have to tell everyone to use 8 instead of 9 to make calls.

Are you with me so far??

yes, but i think i will just get lower numbered DID's. thinking about it now i dont think i should make a change that major to the existing dialing plan . thanks for your time and expertise. i know a little more now

In your original post you said you are using 2000 to 7999, so the only range you could use is 0000 to 1999. but the "0"
is being used by the operator so you would have to change that. also goto
LD 22 again
PRT
DNB
1

see if "1" is being used

I just though of something, are you saying you have 6000 phones on an Option 11c?? are you sure??
